IMAC concluded its four-day international training “Advanced Treaty Practice: From Signature to Domestic Law,” with the closing ceremony graced by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
Islamabad, May 21, 2026 — The International Mediation and Arbitration Center (IMAC), Ministry of Law and Justice, successfully concluded the four-day international training programme “Advanced Treaty Practice: From Signature to Domestic Law” in Islamabad, bringing together distinguished legal professionals, diplomats, and government officials from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Türkiye, and Pakistan.
The closing ceremony was graced by His Excellency Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, who highlighted the critical role of treaties in shaping international relations and strengthening cooperation among nations.
He emphasized that the true value of international agreements lies not merely in their signing, but in their effective implementation within domestic legal systems. Referring to international legal principles, he stressed that agreements must be honoured and implemented in good faith, reinforcing the importance of law in strengthening international partnerships and sustainable peace.
The Deputy Prime Minister also underscored that lasting regional stability depends upon dialogue, diplomacy, mutual understanding, and respect for international law.
Hon'ble Federal Minister for Law and Justice Hon'ble Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar highlighted the increasing importance of treaties in shaping international relations, domestic legal systems, and economic cooperation, while emphasizing the need for stronger legal understanding and institutional preparedness.
In her remarks, Ms. Aisha Rasool, Project Director IMAC, described the initiative as “a landmark programme for IMAC and Pakistan,” noting that the Pakistan–Azerbaijan cooperation evolved into a broader multilateral platform promoting legal cooperation and stronger partnerships.
The programme marked another significant milestone in Pakistan’s growing contribution towards international legal dialogue and capacity-building. Delegates from participating countries appreciated the initiative as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, legal cooperation, and people-to-people engagement.
