A two-day introductory mediation training focused on ADR principles, practical skills, and role-based learning for diverse legal and public sector stakeholders.
This two-day Introductory Mediation Training was conducted in Peshawar for participants from the Southern Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Newly Merged Districts, with the objective of strengthening understanding of mediation as an effective Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism. The programme was organized by the Ministry of Law & Justice through IMAC, in collaboration with the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA).
The training focused on enhancing practical mediation capacity among lawyers, civil servants, academicians, and professionals by promoting mediation as a time-saving, cost-effective, and accessible approach to dispute resolution, aligned with efforts to reduce the burden on courts.
Day 1 familiarized participants with ADR in Pakistan, mediation fundamentals, conflict dynamics, and the supporting legal and institutional framework. Day 2 emphasized negotiation techniques, effective communication, and structured role-plays to support the practical application of mediation skills.
The programme highlighted the cultural relevance of mediation in Pakistan, connecting traditional dispute resolution practices with modern mediation principles such as neutrality, inclusivity, and constitutional safeguards.
Through a combination of conceptual sessions, interactive exercises, and role-based simulations, the training enabled participants to develop practical mediation skills and encouraged the use of dialogue-driven dispute resolution within professional and community settings.
