Lawyers and Civil Servants Mediation Training – Peshawar

A two-day advanced training program on mediation, exclusively designed for judicial officers to strengthen their capacity in court-annexed and private mediation.

About this Training

This two-day Introductory Mediation Training was conducted in Peshawar with the objective of strengthening participants’ understanding of mediation as an effective Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism. The programme was organized by the Ministry of Law & Justice through IMAC, in collaboration with the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA).

The training focused on building practical capacity among lawyers, civil servants, academicians, and professionals by highlighting mediation as a time-saving, cost-effective, and collaborative approach to dispute resolution, aimed at reducing pressure on the formal justice system.

Day 1 introduced participants to ADR concepts in Pakistan, mediation fundamentals, conflict dynamics, and the legal and institutional framework supporting ADR. Day 2 emphasized negotiation strategies, effective communication, and structured role-plays designed to translate theory into practice.

The programme underscored the relevance of mediation within Pakistan’s cultural context, linking traditional dispute resolution practices with modern mediation principles such as neutrality, inclusivity, and legal safeguards.

By combining conceptual learning with interactive exercises and case simulations, the training enabled participants to develop practical mediation skills and encouraged the application of dialogue-based dispute resolution in professional and institutional settings.
